Installed ATS Spoiler

Well I installed the spoiler I received from CARID a few days ago and thought I'd share in case anyone else is considering doing the same. The quality of the paint job is excellent, I went over the piece in detail and did not find any blemishes, pitting, orange peel or any other defects in the paint. The color match was spot on. They pack the spoiler well in the box and it's fully wrapped in foam so it showed up in perfect condition.

I did not drill into the car at all and had no intention of do so. I was planning to mount using 3M auto tape, I've used it several times before in different applications and it works great if you use it correctly.

The spoiler is very light and fits perfectly to the shape of the 3rd brake light as intended. I cleaned the spoiler with an automotive wax and grease remover as well as the brake light and trunk lid. I was surprised to find that the spoiler already had 3M tape around the entire perimeter, it was easy to miss at first because they sprayed the top of the tape as well.

I added an additional strip of 3M tape down the middle for increased strength. Also, I always use 3M promoter when using 3M tape it really makes the difference and ensures a great bond. You can find the tape and promoter at Amazon.

Peel a few inches back on all the strips and line it up and you are on your way! One tip to share is to use a plastic scrapping tool to hold the spoiler up a bit while you get it in final position. Once it grabs that's it! Also, by having the a little space it will allow you to pull out the tape at the rear of the spoiler as there is a small lip on the spoiler and if you press down hard you will not be able to remove this part of the tape.

Once attached pull the car in the sun and let the tape heat up (or use a hair dryer) to ensure a strong bond. Apply a little more pressure and your good to go. I have had the car up to 90mph the next day and it had zero effect on the spoiler.

Hope this helps for those that are interested.
