Yes you can upgrade your ATS Base Halogen Bulbs to HID.

Steps:

1) Buy HID Kit for 9012 Type Bulbs.

It should contain:
Wiring Harness with Relays
Resistors (to prevent issues with check engine lights, etc)
Capacitor (for the bulbs not to flicker when DRL is on)

2) Install bulbs through the wheel well, no need to remove the bumper and break plastic clips. With 17" rims, you dont need to remove the wheel. Are larger wheels, you do.

3) Check light pattern and adjust bulb level as needed.

FAQ:
Q. Where do I add a ground?
A. Use an existing bolt, sand the surface so there is a good connection. See pics.

Q. Where do I get power for my HID kit?
A. Add the power cable on top of the existing cable from the battery. Dont touch the existing power cable, just find the a good nut and add it on top.

Q. Why did you mount the resistors like that? I will glue them to something plastic.
A. Dont, they get hot and must be installed touching a metal surface. Use a center punch, drill a hole and add a sheet metal screw to hold it in.

Q. How will the high beams work?
A. They work great with the existing halogen headlamp. Very bright.

Q. How is the beam pattern for low beams.
A. Its fine.

Q. Anything strange happen when you were installing it.
A. Yes, the car would not start because I moved the fuse box. Dont touch it. It would not recognize the key. I tighted the nut around it and made sure the handles on the sides were all the way down. Then it was ok. I got a check engine light for low engine fan voltage. Fixed by adding resistors which I thought I didn't need.
